Agia Irini Gorge
Agia Eirini Gorge (In Greek: Αγία Ειρήνη, also transliterated as Agia Irini)
is a gorge just 18 km away from Sougia. The village of Agia Irini is along the twisting road that leads from Chania to Sougia. The gorge starts at the South end of the village, having an altitude of about at 560m. It is a smaller Gorge than the Samaria Gorge, at about 6.5km with a lot less descent and takes about 3 hours to walk it. You will find it open all year and most of the walk is in the Shade. At the end of the Gorge you end up about 4.5 km away from the Sougia village, so you can either take the road back on foot or call a taxi for sougia.
